FA Cup

The FA Cup, or Football Association Challenge Cup, is an annual knockout football competition in England. It is the oldest association football tournament in the world, having been first held in 1871–72. The competition is open to teams from various levels of the English football league system, including professional and amateur clubs. Matches in the FA Cup are played in a single-elimination format, meaning that teams advance to the next round by winning their match, while the losing team is eliminated from the tournament. The culmination of the competition is the FA Cup Final, traditionally held at Wembley Stadium, where the champion is determined. Winning the FA Cup is often regarded as a prestigious achievement in English football, providing teams with not only a trophy but also qualifications for European competitions.
