La Liga

La Liga, officially known as the Primera División, is the top professional football (soccer) division in Spain. It is one of the most prestigious leagues in the world and features 20 teams that compete for the championship title each season. La Liga operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Segunda División, the second tier of Spanish football. The league was founded in 1929 and is governed by the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and the Spanish Football League (LFP).

Matches are played from August to May, and the league format consists of each team playing every other team twice, once at home and once away, accumulating points based on match results—three points for a win, one point for a draw, and none for a loss. The team with the highest points at the end of the season is crowned the champion.

La Liga has produced many renowned clubs, such as FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, and is known for its high level of competition, talented players, and significant influence on both Spanish and international football. Additionally, it has a large global following and broadcasts to millions of viewers around the world.
